Laura Yacoubi
Museum Educator and Multidisciplinary Artist
Laura Yacoubi is a museum educator and multidisciplinary artist whose practice uses collage, assemblage and drawing to create artwork that explores memory, identity, and the intersection of personal and collective experiences. As a museum educator, she strives to create an inclusive learning environment where experiencing and creating art is accessible to all. The framework of her practice takes text, imagery, and materials of all textures, colors and shapes and transforms them into fragments of dynamic storytelling. Yacoubi draws inspiration from artists like Romare Bearden, Robert Rauschenberg and Barbara Kruger for their ability to use collage as a means of storytelling and as a way to express identity. Her goal as a teaching artist is to capture the culmination of past and present experiences to create artwork that emphasizes the importance of human connection and diverse perspectives to express identity.
