Summer Institutes

Each summer, the PEACE Project brings together a new cohort of Long Island teachers and cultural partners for a two-day, hands-on professional development institute. These immersive, all-day gatherings are the launch point for the school year, providing time and space for educators and artists to connect, collaborate, and prepare to bring arts-based learning in all curricular areas to students across the region.

Participants engage in workshops, co-create curriculum and residency ideas, experience performances, and learn from previous success stories, all while gaining a clear understanding of the year ahead and the resources available to support their work. The Summer Institutes are required for all participants, ensuring everyone starts the year aligned.

Hosted in inspiring venues across Long Island, from Guild Hall in Sag Harbor to Patchogue Theatre and PAC MoCA, the Summer Institutes are where the PEACE Project’s mission to build a critical community of practice begins each year. It is a year of supported growth to allow teachers and cultural partners lead change by creatively expanding access to art.
