Certified Laughter Yoga Leader and Assistant Professor of Communication Studies

My love of laughter started when I was young.  My love of laughing with others began in elementary school when I was always the class clown. I found humor in almost everything and relished sharing my silly side with anyone who would laugh!  Through the years, I was everyone’s comic relief and enjoyed making people smile. Bringing levity to my classmates and teachers became my passion. Higher education granted me a B.A. in speech and theatre, which allowed me to hone my comedic side and create and build a presentational foundation. My degree enabled me to become part of a self-contained sketch comedy troupe performing throughout Long Island and Off-Off Broadway for six years.

For the last 24 years, I have taught communication study courses at Suffolk County Community College (Brentwood Campus) and St. Joseph’s University (Long Island Campus). The classroom is my stage. Humor is a strong part of my teaching and allows students to experience the fun in learning. Teaching through laughter is highly satisfying.

Having watched a news segment on Laughter Yoga, I was instantly smitten with laughing as a professional! Using humor is difficult due to others' level of acceptance. Laughter Yoga is a space for me to lead others in laughter for no other reason than to laugh! After researching Laughter Yoga and being impressed with the numerous health benefits of laughter, I attended a Laughter Yoga course through Laughter Yoga University and am now a proud graduate as a Certified Laughter Yoga Leader. With a love of laughter and an even bigger love for the sound of laughter, it was only fitting for me to become a Laughter Professional.  Laughter Yoga is not only personally satisfying but also a great way to connect with people of all ages, occupations, and backgrounds in ways I never knew I could.  Laughter truly IS the best medicine! And Laughter Yoga is the easiest way to reap the benefits of laughter!
