Diane Longo

School Library Media Specialist

Brentwood Union Free School District

As a high school Library Media Specialist, Diane brings energy, innovation, and heart to everything she does. Whether she’s curating new technologies for students and staff, collaborating on curriculum writing, or guiding young leaders as the Interact Club advisor, she’s always focused on empowering others through knowledge and service. Her passion for service extends to hands-on projects like Habitat for Humanity builds, where she enjoys making a tangible difference. Diane is also a C.O.P.A. Club advisor for an afterschool program that supports students in grades 8–12 with academics, sports and fitness, the arts, and social-emotional growth. Twice a week, she helps create a safe, enriching space where students can thrive beyond the classroom.

Outside of school, Diane is deeply rooted in her community. She has proudly served as a trustee for the Sachem Public Library for over 25 years, advocating for literacy and lifelong learning. When she’s not working or volunteering, you’ll likely find her outdoors biking, hiking, camping, or enjoying the beach. She also loves gardening, bird watching, reading, cooking for her family and even learning to play piano. A lifelong learner at heart, she makes it a point to learn something new every year. Her work is guided by a simple belief: when you nurture curiosity, community, and compassion, you help others grow and grow yourself in the process.
