Dina Grisales was born and raised in Colombia where she completed a bachelor’s degree in Speech Pathology. When she moved to the United States, she became passionate about education and finished a master’s degree in Adolescent Education. She started to work at Brentwood High School and has been a bilingual teacher there for 10 years. She has always been an advocate for equal opportunities and social justice for her students and the community she serves. That is how she became a community plaza ally in the Brentwood school district. With this role, she helps the parents and the community, in general, get involved in school activities, inform them about community services, and educate them about their rights and services available for them. She is also the director of the bilingual newsletter “The Voice”, written by bilingual students. Dina has been a big fan of the performing arts and believes that arts-related after-school activities help children to learn, explore, and grow in many different aspects. That’s why she helped create one of the first theater companies that performs in Spanish on Long Island. 

Dina Grisales contributed to the founding and development of bilingual theater at Brentwood High School from its inception. She studied theater in Colombia for three years and worked as an actress for another ten, being part of the cast of different theater companies such as the TICH theater group (Independent Theater of Cyprus) and the Confamiliares group. During her artistic career, she participated in multiple international, Ibero-American, interdepartmental, and intercollegiate theater festivals. She promotes and values ​​all artistic expressions and sees theater as an extraordinary tool that promotes self-esteem, socialization, and teamwork in young people, encouraging them to think critically and increasing empathy for others. Mrs. Grisales supports and promotes performing arts in bilingual youth.
