Rahana Schmalacker

Rahana Schmalacker is an excited participant in this project for two reasons. As a Patchogue Village resident, she is grateful for the opportunity to utilize the incredible resources of the Patchogue Arts Council in a way that not only sparks her own creativity, but also deepens her appreciation for the local artists that lend sights, sounds, and textures to our emotions. As an English teacher at Central Islip High School, she is proud to provide her students with the meaningful experiences that participation in this project will provide.  She believes that education is a crucial tool in creating a just society. To do so, that education must help students not only learn about, but also process the complex world in which we live. What better way to do that than through art!!
